At 26,7595, this is the highest mountain that is completely
inside the Nepal boundary. This giant peak is also the highest residual mountain
of the world, the only of its kind in the Himalayas (fold mountains). As oppose
to its neighboring peak, Annapurna, trekkers seldomly attempt to travel to
this side of the deepest gorge of the world. The gorge (over 6,000 m 20,000
ft) deep is infact the valley between this giant in the west and Annapurna
in the east. Dhaulagiris is perhaps the largest mountain in base diameter at
the base camp.
