Biratnagar is located in Morang district, lies 400 KM to the East of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu and 6 KM to the North of the Jogbani border of India. It is the second most densely populated city after Kathmandu and the fourth most populous city of Nepal. Biratnagar is the temporary capital of province no 1, the industrial capital of Nepal and is a metropolitan city.
According to the census of 2011, the total population of Biratnagar was 214,663. It is located in one of the most ethnically diverse regions of Nepal. The total area of the city is 77.5 sq. KM (i.e. 29.9 sq. miles).

Biratnagar Jute Mill
Biratnagar Jute Mill is the oldest and the largest jute mill in the country. The jute mill was established under the Prime minister Juddha Shamsher in 1936. It is also the first registered industry in the country and is an impressive example of an industrial complex.

Biratnagar Eye hospital is commonly known as BEH in short form and was started in the month September of 2006. It is an Eastern Regional Eye Care Program (EREC-P). The hospital is located in Biratnagar, Nepal and is a development of Sagarmatha Chaudhary Eye Hospital (SCEH), Lahan.

Transportation in Biratnagar
Biratnagar airport, which is owned and operated by the Government of Nepal commenced its operation on 6th of July, 1958. The elevation of the airport is at 72 m (236 ft.) above the sea level. The airport has one runway designated 09/27 with an asphalt surface measuring 1505*30 m (4,938 * 98 ft).
Biratnagar airport has its own aviation fuel depot on site and the aircraft can refuel here. The airport was forced to close after the flooding in August 2017 which affected other parts of Nepal and India.
